I would recommend PC Tools Antivirus. It updates regularly, and gets pretty much everything. Panda is another option, although slows down the computer a bit. However, these will miss more complicated viruses, so if you are running a real high stake project, you should go for a commercial one, otherwise just remember to back up regularly and you'll be fine. Remember: Nothing is as bad as losing your data. You can replace burned up hardware, but not the data. Always backup on a seperate drive.

The best two are AVG Free and Avast. Norton and McAfee (which both cost money) are the worst, because the resources they eat up often cause more problems than the viruses they're supposed to protect you from. I use AVG myself, but I've heard a lot of good things about Avast, too.
